‘Junior Nature Conservator’

The National Zoological Gardens of South Africa (NZG) or Pretoria Zoo, offers various interesting, educational children’s courses during the June/July 2011 school holidays, which includes Junior Nature Conservator, Scavenger Hunt, Meet the Birds, The World of Reptiles, Monkey Tricks.

Pretoria Zoo (NZG) Courses:

• Junior Nature Conservator – 5 day course for learners in grade 7 – 12; getting acquainted with zoo animals and other activities. Fee R200, 4 to 8 July (English); 11 to 15 July (English).
• Scavenger Hunt – grade 4 to 7 learners; data collection of different species of animals and comprehensive treasure hunt. Fee R70, 30 June (English); 14 July (English); 7 July (Afrikaans).
• Meet the Birds – grade 1 to 3 learners; characteristics of birds and their nests; identify 20 birds. Fee R70, 27 June (Afrikaans); 4 July (Afrikaans); 11 July (English).
• The World of Reptiles – grade 4 to 7 learners; variety of reptiles, and a snake demonstration. Fee R70, 28 June (English); 12 July (English), 5 July (English).
• Monkey Tricks – grade 1 to 3 learners; learn about primates in a fun and interactive way. Fee R70, 7 July (English); 14 July (Afrikaans).
